Dear clients and friends,
We would like to bring to your attention a proposed rule change by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that could affect the fees for immigration and naturalization benefit requests. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the proposed changes are necessary to cover the increased costs of expanded humanitarian programs, higher demand, increased processing times and a need for more employees at USCIS.
Under the proposed rule, some fees may be increased, and new fees may be added for certain benefit requests. The rule also proposes distinct fees for petitions for non-immigrant workers and limits the number of beneficiaries on certain forms. Furthermore, there will be additional fee exemptions for certain humanitarian categories and changes to certain other immigration benefit request requirements.
It is important to note that this is just a proposed rule and the public will have 60 days to provide any comments before the changes to the fee schedule are finalized and goes into effect. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns about how these proposed changes may affect you, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Yours,
Dewan & Associates PLLC.
